What does Soma Mean?       
  
           In ancient times, the word Soma was used to refer to eternal wisdom and "moon water"
    representing deep feminine intuitive wisdom. In modern times, Soma refers to our embodied
    experience or as the poet, Gayle Brandeis phrased it, "Soma is the place where our minds, bodies
    and spirits unite. It is the intelligent flesh, the spirited flesh that can capture our own wholeness
    and integrity." Deepak Chopra, in Ageless Body, Timeless Mind says, “Intelligence is present
    everywhere in our bodies…our inner intelligence is far superior to any we can try to substitute
    from the outside.”
           Honoring the living process of our bodies takes us on an inner journey.  We are invited into
    the present moment where our bodies live.  It is here that we have the opportunity to change our
    past and create our future.
           Soma Wisdom is not a method but an approach, which views the body as infinitely intelligent,
    and honors embodied experience as a vehicle for transformation. Each body has a unique story
    to tell.  If we give ourselves the time to slow down, turn inward and listen to our body's messages,
    we can tap into a body intelligence otherwise unattainable. The ability to be present in our bodies
    offers the possibility for changing our lives. Our bodies live in the present moment where deep
    change and insight can occur. This approach is informed by trusting the wisdom of your unique
    experience and facilitating the unfolding of your moment to moment process.
           Honoring your experience can be one of the most profound acts you can take. Your
    experience matters because it is the entry point into knowing who you are and the access point to
    creating the life you want. Learning how to have a positive and pleasurable relationship with our
    bodies can have profound affects on our health and well-being.
           Grounding, centering, deep wisdom and expanded creative potential are the many gifts of
    embodiment. Increasing body awareness helps us to access our intuition and make informed
    choices. Being present with our body experience allow us to uncover and resolve limiting patterns
    inviting new pathways for thinking, feeling and moving.

    awareness allows us to ground, center and focus our intention on what we want and to make
    clear, insightful decisions.
    Our bodies also assist us to move e-motion clearing blocks and re-establishing authenticity and
    congruency.

    Anya’s approach to working with emotions honors each person’s pace creating a safe container in
    which to explore what’s right about our experience and to harvest the wisdom of our bodies. She
    brings her insight and ability to perceive on-going patterns, connecting the dots and offering ways
    to integrate our past into the present in a non-threatening, gentle and fluid way. She draws from
    the tools of Somatic Experiencing, Resourcing, Process work, Somatic Movement Therapy,
    Creative/Expressive Arts and Psycho-Spiritual Integration.
