Anya Hricko is an Integrative Somatic Therapist currently earning her PhD in Somatic Psychology from
the Santa Barbara Graduate Institute. She is the founder/director of the Soma Wisdom Institute and
    Pioneer Valley Reflexology.

Anya is passionate about assisting others to discover their authentic self and harvest meaning from all
of life’s experiences bringing more ease, creativity and purpose to ones journey. Her interest is in
humanistic positive psychological approaches that invite self discovery, support personal growth and
encourage integration of body, mind and spirit.

Anya brings many tools to her practice allowing more options, creativity and effectiveness. Her
professional practice is a synthesis of over 30 years of training and experience in body/mind healing
arts with extensive experience in somatic approaches.

Her practice is very much informed by her love of processing with clients and discovering what moves
and motivates us. She has studied Process-Oriented Psychology (Process Work) as developed by
Dr. Arny and Amie Mindell: http://www.processworkne.com/  and is currently a 3rd year Advanced level
student (in a 3 year training) of Somatic Experiencing, a leading edge approach to healing trauma
developed by Dr. Peter Levine: http://www.traumahealing.com/

Her love of movement began as a child where she happily danced all day as her mother played piano
for the local dance teacher. As a young adult Anya explored every new form of movement education that
came on to the scene. She studied the work of many early movement pioneers; including Mabel Todd,
Lulu Swigart, Feldenkrais, Alexander, Bartenieff and Laban.

She is a 1993 graduate of the Somatic Movement Therapy training directed by Martha Eddy,

As a Certified Somatic Movement Therapist her work is strongly influenced by her experience and
training in Body-Mind Centering, Authentic Movement and Continuum Movement: http://www.
    continuummovement.com/

Anya is also a Certified Yoga Instructor and 500-hour Yoga Alliance master teacher who specializes
in Gentle and Fluid Yoga integrating Continuum movement, Body Mind Centering and movement re-
    education into her classes.

Anya completed the year long program in Contemplative Movement with Daphne Lowell and Alton
Wasson in 1994 and has led authentic movement and body wisdom groups for several years.

Early on Anya discovered that movement and sound were intimately connected and has studied sound
healing and sacred sound with many of the pioneers in the field including Jill Purse, Jonathan Goldman,
Don Campbell, Jai Utal, Russill Paul, and Sarah Benson as well as completing an Intensive Training in
Sound Healing with Dr. Molly Scott, Director of the Creative Resonance Institute in 2001.

Her background also includes extensive training and experience in Integrative Bodywork.
Anya was on the forefront of Reflexology receiving Certification in the early 1970’s. She is a Master
Reflexologist who has been featured on radio, TV and in several publications. She brings to her
profession 30 years of clinical experience and 27 years teaching experience. Anya continues to evolve
and integrate Reflexology with the many modalities she has come to learn, bringing a unique blend of
skill and competence to her work.

In addition, she is a Licensed Massage Therapist with training in Cranio-Sacral Therapy and
Process Acupressure and has taught Reflexology, Swedish massage, Body Mechanics and
Somatic Awareness in Massage Schools since 1981.

The essence and power of her work is informed by her expertise in multiple modalities providing a
richness and diversity that many feel meet their specific needs and provide lasting results. Her passion
is exploring the interface between the wisdom that our bodies offer us and how to integrate that
knowledge with our psychological and spiritual process. Anya believes in each persons ability to tap into
his or her own unique creative source and inner wisdom. She approaches this inner journey with
    respect, humor, wisdom and playfulness.
